Salt Lake City, Utah Personal Injury Lawyers – Trial Advocacy Center

At Siegfried and Jensen in Salt Lake City, Utah, our personal injury lawyers use cutting-edge technology in order to provide clients with exceptional legal representation during trial.  The technological core of our practice is the Trial Advocacy Center, a state-of-the-art legal facility, one of the most advanced in the world, which houses both a high-tech legal video production studio and courtroom within its 3,400 square feet of space.  The facility provides attorneys with a host of multi-media functions as well, including video deposition recording, videoconferencing, video streaming, digital evidence presentation, and real-time perception analysis.  The Trial Advocacy Center represents the current pinnacle of legal technology, and provides attorneys with the means to hone their skills and present more visually compelling cases.

Courtroom, Witness Preparation, and Mock Jury Trials

Designed from actual blueprints of courtrooms at the Matheson and West Jordan courthouses, the courtroom at the Trial Advocacy Center is visually similar to a typical Utah courtroom.  There is a judge's bench, witness and jury boxes, and presentation space for attorneys, who use this simulated courtroom environment to practice presentations and prepare witnesses for trial.  It can also be used to feel out a case and its merits in a practice called a “mock jury trial.”  This is a process where randomly selected people from the community where the case is likely to be tried are selected to serve as practice jurors.  Attorneys present the case as they would in a real-trial setting to get an indication of how a jury will respond to a case during the actual trial.  To accomplish this, surrogate jurors are given hand-held devices to evaluate attorney and witness performances during practice sessions.  Known as a real-time perceptional analyzer system, this new technology works by superimposing onto video, a moving, moment-to-moment line graph of the performance being evaluated.  It employs the same type of dial testing technology used by the television industry to evaluate new entertainment shows and by networks like CNN to evaluate presidential candidate performance during debates. The technology also allows for mediators and arbitrators to hear cases in a courtroom-like setting.

Paperless Video Depositions

Another innovative addition to this state-of-the-art facility is a paperless video deposition recording studio.  Built by LawMedia Group, the studio employs the patent pending DepoDisplay® Paperless Video Deposition Recording System, which is believed to be the first system of its kind to completely eliminate paper documents from the deposition process. This technology enables our Salt Lake City, Utah personal injury lawyers to handle cases more efficiently, as we are better able to present cases in settlement negotiations and have a presentation available to be shown at trial. The method cuts the duration of depositions while enhancing their impact during settlement negotiations and trials.  One of the benefits provided by going paperless in this process is the positive impact on the environment.  It will save tens of thousands of pages of paper a year that go to waste in storage after a case has been resolved. The process will also be less expensive, which will help to reduce the ever increasing cost of taking a case to trial.

Video Streaming and Conferencing

With the abilities provided by high-speed internet and data connection, the Trial Advocacy Center's videoconferencing and video streaming facility will be able to reduce attorney travel by providing a place where opposing attorneys can depose a witness or expert in another state or another country without having to leave the state of Utah. Having this information on a video recording device will serve to supplant old-fashioned, expensive stenographic shorthand recording, yielding a more accurate record at a lower cost.
