Cache County, UT (February 23, 2019) – Authorities responded to a fatal car accident around 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday that led to the death of 70-year-old Phyllis Belles.

The tragic accident took place on Highway 91, just south of Lower Foods, Inc. The Utah Highway Patrol responded, where they found that Belles and another party had been traveling northbound in a green Subaru headed toward Richmond.

Belles was a passenger. The driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast for conditions and lost control of the vehicle on a snow-covered road. Their vehicle slid into the rear tires of a semi-truck that was traveling in the other direction.

Belles was immediately ejected due to the forceful impact of the crash. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 72-year-old Curtis Sells, was not injured in the accident.

Police closed the roadway at Highway 91 down for several hours. Their investigation into the accident continues at this time.

We would like to take this time to extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Phyllis Belles, as we understand how difficult it can be to deal with the aftermath of one of these accidents.
