Cedar City, UT – 1 Killed & 3 Injured In Collision At I-15 & W 200 NUtah Legal News
Cedar City, UT (August 5, 2019) – Reports from Utah Highway Patrol have confirmed that a crash on Friday, August 2nd, in the afternoon has resulted in the death of one and injuries to three others involved. The accident took place on Interstate 15 at the exit for West 200 North in Cedar City at around 2:50 p.m.
Initial reports from UHP show that the two vehicles collided after one vehicle traveling south entered the northbound lane. The driver of a gray Chevy Silverado was in the process of merging onto Interstate 15 southbound at W. 200 N. While merging onto the roadway, the driver of the truck failed to see a silver Saturn passenger vehicle that was already traveling in the lane.
This caused the Saturn to veer left in order to avoid striking the truck and hit a median, becoming airborne. The bumper of the car was caught on a cable, causing it to flip over onto northbound lanes of the highway.
A red Kia struck the Saturn after it landed on I-15 NB, causing fatal injuries to the front-seat passenger of the Saturn.
The driver of the Saturn was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Kia and their child passenger were also injured and transported to the hospital.
The collision is under investigation.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
