Cedar City, UT – EMS Needed After Accident on State Route 14

Cedar City, Ut (April 26, 2019) – A unfortunate accident took place on Thursday, April 25th on State Route 14. The incident is reported to have occurred at about 7:30 in the evening.

Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol and other first responders reported to the scene of an accident that involved a motorcycle crashing and skidding off the road on State Route 14 near Cedar Breaks.

According to initial statements, the motorcyclist was headed southeast on SR 14 when he failed to correctly negotiate a turn near the third-mile marker resulting in a crash. The status of his condition was not given but he did receive medical transport to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment for injuries to his head.

Police have stated that despite the fact that the motorcyclist was an inexperienced rider he was able to rent a motorcycle from a company in Las Vegas. They believe it was his lack of knowledge of riding a bike, possibly combined with excessive speed, that led to the accident. He was wearing all of the appropriate safety gear at the time of the crash.

We wish the person who was injured in this accident a quick and full recovery.

Speeding Accidents in Cedar City

According to a collection of traffic accident statistics published in 2008 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding plays a major role in approximately one out of every three car accident fatalities. Sadly, the higher the speed at which a car is moving, the more its potential for disaster increases should it crash into another vehicle. Mindful motorists should understand the risks that speeding incurs for all drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists and bike riders on Utah’s roadways.

Excessive speed will nearly always make the consequences of a car accident much more serious because it decreases the driver’s ability to steer the car correctly. This makes an accident that is caused by speeding more likely to happen while also exacerbating the outcome of any accident that does occur.

Anyone who drives their car at an excessive speed undermines the car’s design for precise steering. They also need to take into account the increased braking distance that will be crucial to any driver’s ability to a stop in time when the need arises.
