Cedar City, UT – Second Vehicle Accident Involving Semi At Milepost 54 On I-15 Causes InjuriesUtah Legal News
Cedar City, UT (February 14, 2019) – Utah Highway Patrol responded to a second multi-vehicle accident at milepost 54 on I-15 that occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 5:30 p.m.
Moments before this incident, another multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and a car occurred in the same area. In that accident, the driver of a white Honda Accord was blinded by the sun, causing her to steer into the slow lane next to her, where a semi-truck was traveling. After the incident, both drivers pulled off the roadway. Both drivers were injured in this crash.
Immediately following that crash, the driver of a Blue Honda CR-V witnessed the incident and slowed down to help. Upon slowing down, the Honda CR-V was rear-ended by a semi-truck that was following, which was unable to stop in time. The semi-truck slid off the road into the median and jack-knifed.
The driver of the semi-truck was cited for following too closely. Both drivers sustained injuries in the incident.
Our thoughts are with the injured drivers who were involved in this accident. We hope that everyone involved in this accident will be able to make a complete and speedy recovery.
Accidents Caused By Semi-Trucks In Utah
Accidents involving semi-trucks are often catastrophic. Semi-trucks can weigh more than 80,000 pounds, dominating the size and weight of most other vehicles on the road. Unfortunately, the large size of semi-trucks makes it more difficult for them to stop during emergencies. Not being able to respond quickly to other drivers on the road can result in an accident.
Unfortunately, following too closely behind other vehicles on the roadway only amplifies the chances of an accident. When victims sustain injuries caused by semi-truck drivers following too closely, they can file a claim for compensation against the at-fault drivers.
