Kanab, UT – Three Injured In US Highway 89 Crash

Kanab, UT (April 4, 2019) – On April 4, just after 10:20 a.m., Utah Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a collision on US Highway 89.

The incident occurred near milepost 35. According to reports, a fully loaded tour bus was traveling east on the roadway behind a 2019 Yukon XL SUV. The driver of the Yukon signaled to turn right. The bus driver, who noticed there was no oncoming traffic, signaled and moved into the westbound lane to pass the Yukon.

As the bus passed the Yukon, the driver turned left into the bus, instead of right as they signaled to do. An oncoming car swerved left, into the path of the bus, causing the bus to T-bone the driver side of the car. The bus then pushed the Yukon off the left side of the road as the car rolled numerous times.

The male driver of the Yukon and a male passenger were transported via helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The passenger in the car was severely injured and transported via ambulance to Kane County Hospital. Bus passengers and the driver sustained minor injuries and were released at the scene.

The victims and their families are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. We hope that everyone involved will be able to fully recover from this incident.
