Lehi, UT – Car Accident Shuts Down Northbound Interstate 15

Lehi, UT (April 17, 2019) – A terrible accident took place on Wednesday, April 17th, that affected the northbound lanes of traffic on Interstate 15. The collision is reported to have occurred shortly before 2:30 in the afternoon.

Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol and other emergency response units arrived at the scene of an accident that involved a single vehicle slamming into a concrete barrier on the roadway, shutting down all four lanes of northbound traffic on Interstate 15, near 1200 North.

Initial reports indicate that the driver appeared to lose control of his vehicle. The reason for the collision has not yet been determined and police are still investigating the scene and questioning witnesses. The construction that was taking place in the area hindered the progress of emergency response crews. Eventually, the victim was airlifted out of the area.

Reports state that the man was unconscious when he was airlifted, and is currently listed in poor to critical condition.

We wish a full and speedy recovery to the man who was critically injured in this accident and hope that police are able to resolve the issue quickly.

Highway Accidents in Lehi

Every year, an average of 52,000 car accidents take place on highways here in Utah. The outcome of these accidents is an average of 22,000 injuries and 250 fatalities. Car accidents that happen on highways usually wind up producing a greater number of catastrophic injuries and a greater number of deaths than accidents that occur on slower-moving city roads. This is largely because of the considerably larger number of cars that use the highway, and the higher rate of speed at which they are traveling. These drivers also tend to be in very close proximity to one another.

When a person is injured in an accident, we strongly urge them to contact a skilled Utah personal injury attorney who is experienced enough to make all of their legal options known to them and help them in filing a claim.
