Murray, UT – Man Killed By FrontRunner Train Between 3900 South and 4500 SouthUtah Legal News
Murray, UT (February 11, 2019) – Late last week, on Thursday afternoon, a man was walking north on a set of train tracks when he was struck by a FrontRunner train between 3900 South and 4500 South, which was headed north.
The pedestrian was later identified as 40-year-old Calvin Curley, a resident from Arizona. Curley was in Salt Lake City for two weeks for a business trip. It is not clear why Curley was walking on the tracks when the accident occurred and investigators are not sure if Curley saw or realized that the train was approaching. By the time that he did, he was not able to get out of the way of the oncoming train and suffered fatal injuries.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Calvin Curley. Our thoughts are with them during this time.
Train And Pedestrian Accidents In Utah
Accidents that involve a train are often catastrophic, especially when pedestrians are involved. Trains do not have the ability to swerve away from pedestrians, and they are unable to slow down quickly enough to respond to people and objects on or along the railways. For this reason, it’s imperative that people avoid the dangers of walking on or near train tracks. Vehicles are often involved in accidents with trains for a variety of reasons and usually do not end well for the driver of that vehicle.
