Midvale, UT – Injury Accident on Fort Union AvenueUtah Legal News
Midvale, UT (April 07, 2019) – An accident took place in the early hours of the morning, Sunday, April 7th, in Salt Lake County. The incident took place sometime around midnight.
Unified Police Department Officers and emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident that involved a car going off the side of the roadway. The incident occurred on the 7100 block of Fort Union Avenue.
An initial statement from an officer with the Unified Police Department indicated that the driver of the vehicle was speeding, which resulted in him losing control of the car. He then jumped a curb, went sailing through the air narrowly missing a tree and a boulder before finally coming to a stop.
The driver, whose name has not yet been released, sustained injuries from the accident but they classified as non-life threatening. The car, however, is most likely a total loss. At this time, there is no further information available on the condition of the driver or who else was in the car with him.
We would like to wish everyone who was harmed in this accident a full and swift recovery.
Speeding-Related Accidents in Midvale
According to 2008 traffic accident statistics compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding contributes to nearly one in three fatal car accidents. Sadly, the faster a car is going, the deadlier it becomes if it crashes into another vehicle. Responsible motorists need to understand the risks that speeding presents to all drivers, bicycle riders, and pedestrians on the road.
Speeding will almost always make a car accident much worse since it decreases the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle correctly. This makes an accident caused by speeding more likely to happen while also increasing the seriousness of any accident that does occur. Any person who drives their car at a dangerous speed foregoes the car’s natural capacity for accurate steering and has to account for the extra braking distance that will be crucial to the driver’s ability to stop the vehicle in time.
