Nephi, UT – Northbound I-15 Reopens Following Fatal Accident

Nephi, UT (May 02, 2019) – A fatal accident took place on Thursday, May 02 that affected drivers attempting to use Interstate 15. The incident is reported to have taken place shortly before 12:30 in the afternoon.

Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol and other first responders arrived at the scene of an accident that involved a crew cab GMC truck, which was towing a bumper pull camp trailer, which was towing a Toyota Camry.

Initial reports seem to indicate that the trailer was heavily loaded with personal effects and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Due to the speed at which the truck was traveling and the non-uniform cargo placement inside the trailer, the truck began to rock back and forth as it headed down the road. The rocking caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which first swerved to the right and then back over to the left where it struck the median.

The driver, a male whose identity has not yet been released, sustained both head and neck injuries during the collision and died at the scene. The passenger, a woman whose identity has also not been revealed to the public, received emergency transport to Central Valley Medical Center. Her injuries were listed as non-life threatening.

Police have stated that both parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the gentleman who lost his life in this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We also wish a full and speedy recovery to the woman who was injured during this same accident.

Highway Accidents in Nephi

Each year, an average of 26,800 people endure injuries that were caused by traffic accidents somewhere in the state of Utah. These vehicle collisions almost always have a destructive impact on the lives of those involved.

When a person is injured in a car accident, they don’t always immediately notice that they have been injured. This is primarily because the body’s natural reaction to a stressful situation is to invoke the fight-or-flight response which produces high amounts of adrenaline which, among other things, acts a natural pain blocker. This means that a person who has sustained an injury during an accident might not even be aware of it until much later. If you have been injured in car accidents in which you were not the negligent driver, we strongly urge you to contact a car accident attorney in Utah as soon as you are able.
