Provo, UT (February 13, 2019) – Just after 7:00 p.m. Monday, firefighters responded to a fire at the Los Hermanos Mexican restaurant located at 71 E. Center St.
The fire, which started in the basement of the building, was difficult and dangerous for firefighters to reach. It soon spread through the building’s first story floor and into the restaurant and office space above the restaurant. Investigators have deemed the restaurant a total loss, following the fire’s extinguishment. The total cost of damages to Los Hermanos and nearby buildings has not yet been determined.
Firefighters from at least eight stations were on sight fighting the blaze. As crews worked aggressively to fight the fire, one firefighter fell down a flight of stairs at the business, injuring his arm and shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Our thoughts go out to the injured firefighter, who we hope will make a speedy recovery and return to protecting the city.
