Richmond, Utah – One Woman Dead, Another Injured after Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 91Utah Legal News
Richmond, Utah (February 9, 2019) – Local news sources reported a deadly accident involving a car and a semi-truck took place as the result of a dangerous snowstorm that plowed through the area on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. According to the report from a Utah Highway Patrol officer, the accident occurred along U.S Highway 91 in the vicinity of Lower Foods, Inc. at approximately 12: 45 PM in the afternoon.
As the report indicates, 21-year old Allison Blauer was driving a green 2000 Subaru Forester, also occupied by 70-year old Phyllis Belles, over the appropriate speed limit and too fast for severe winter-weather conditions. Neither woman had been wearing her safety belt. At one point, Blauer lost control of her vehicle and slammed into the rear tires of a semi-truck, operated by 72-year old West Valley City resident Curtis Sells.
Sometime later, rescue crews arrived at the scene. Belles, who had been ejected from the car, had succumbed to her injuries and died. Paramedics successfully extracted Blauer from the Subaru and transported her to Logan Regional Hospital, where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
We extend our most heartfelt prayers and most loving thoughts to the family and friends of Ms. Belles during this difficult and tragic time.
