Salt Lake City, UT (April 22, 2019) – A frightening accident took place on Friday, April 19th, that temporarily affected traffic at the intersection of 300 West and 300 South. Initial reports indicate that the accident occurred late at night.
Officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department and emergency responders answered a call regarding a crash that, according to witness statements, involved a white passenger vehicle with three occupants running into a male pedestrian while going approximately 40 miles per hour and then fleeing the scene of the accident.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, received emergency medical transport to a nearby hospital. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
At around 2:00 on Saturday morning a Salt Lake City officer spotted a vehicle matching the witness’ description that also had heavy front-end damage and a busted windshield near the area of 400 South and 900 West. The officer who pulled the car over could smell alcohol coming from the 22-year-old Kearns-area driver, who subsequently failed all field sobriety tests. An open bottle of liquor was found in the backseat of the vehicle.
