Salt Lake City, UT – Car Intentionally Hits Motorcycle on UT-201 According To WitnessesUtah Legal News
Salt Lake City, UT (April 23, 2019) – A fatal car accident took place on Friday, April 19th on State Route 201. The road rage-induced collision is reported to have occurred at about 3:00 in the morning.
Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol as well as other emergency responders reported to the scene of an accident that involved a Chevy Malibu and a motorcycle that had crashed into a concrete road barrier due to a cat-and-mouse style road rage incident that played out near SR 201 and 2700 West.
According to initial reports about the incident, the 36-year-old driver of the Chevy and the 56-year-old motorcyclist were swerving towards each other and appeared to be attempting to cut one another off. Finally, the Chevy intentionally rammed the back of the motorcycle, causing it to crash. The driver of the car stopped and exited his vehicle and fled the accident scene on foot, but Utah Highway Patrol officers found his phone inside the Chevy and, between the that and the man’s extensive criminal history, were later able to locate the suspect.
The motorcycle rider, a native of Washington state, was pronounced dead at the scene.
We offer our deepest, heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the gentleman who lost his life in this tragic accident.
