Sandy, UT – Father and Son Injured in Memorial Day Weekend Bike CrashUtah Legal News
Sandy, UT (May 26, 2019) – An accident occurred on Sunday, May 26th in a residential neighborhood in Sandy. The accident is reported to have taken place at just before 9:00 at night.
The Sandy Fire Department Batallion and other first responders arrived at the scene of an accident that involved a father and son injured during a motorcycle accident on Little Cottonwood Lane.
According to preliminary statements, the father had just purchased the motorcycle and was taking his 16-year-old son out for a ride when he lost control of the bike on a sharp curve in the road. The father was able to lay the bike down and was fortunate enough to not have any vehicles or other obstacles in his pathway.
Authorities have also reported that the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and, as a result, was not fully able to recount the details of what had happened. His son, however, was wearing a helmet and was able to fill authorities in on what had taken place.
Both the father and the son received emergency medical transport to Intermountain Medical Center. The son was listed as being in okay condition while the father’s condition was listed as serious due to possible head trauma.
Recent rains have washed loose gravel onto many roadways and is believed to have played a major role in this accident.
We wish both the father and son and full and speedy recovery.
