South Jordan, UT (February 13, 2019) – A 4-year-old boy lost his life on Wednesday, January 30, in a rear-end accident.

The victim, later identified as D’mondre Brown, was sitting in the front passenger spot of a Dodge Neon, without a booster seat, driven by his father. The Neon approached stopped traffic, but failed to brake, causing it to crash into the vehicle in front of it.

The impact of the collision caused the airbag to deploy, which caused catastrophic injuries to young Brown. Brown was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Other victims involved in the accident only sustained minor injuries and were examined by medical professionals at the scene of the accident.

The car that the Neon rear-ended was pushed into the car in front of it, sustaining damage on both the front and rear end of the vehicle. The driver is cooperating with the investigation and police do not believe impairment was a factor.

We want to send our sincerest condolences the family and friends of D’mondre Brown, as they mourn their tragic loss. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
