St. George, UT – Missing Man From Nevada Identified as Victim in Fatal Crash with SemiUtah Legal News
St. George, UT (April 13, 2019) – A terrible accident took place on Saturday, April 13, in Iron County and affected traffic in the northbound lanes. The accident is reported to have occurred just after 5:00 in the morning.
Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol, emergency medical units and a helicopter reported to the accident scene which involved a deadly collision between a small passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15, near mile marker 93.
Initial reports came after the Utah Department of Public Safety Cedar Communications Center began fielding phone calls from motorists stating that there was a small passenger car that was stopped in the middle of the road in the outside travel lane. As UHP troopers responded to the call, 911 reported yet another incoming call informing them that the car had been hit by a UPS 18 wheeler towing three full trailers. The impact from the collision pushed the car off of the roadway entirely. The impact also caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife and slam into the median. Medical units worked diligently to extricate the driver from his automobile and attempt various life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered from only a few minor injuries.
The driver of the car was identified by UHP as a 62-year-old man from Henderson, Nevada who was listed as a missing and endangered person with health issues and dementia. Utah Highway Patrol Investigators are still trying to figure out why the car was stopped in the middle of the highway.
We wish to offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the gentleman who lost his life in this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with everyone who sustained injuries in this terrible accident.
Fatal Accidents in Utah
As an average, for every 30 hours that go by one person dies as the result of a car accident in Utah. These tragic occurrences tend to leave families and other loved ones to mourn the loss of an untimely death. In addition to trying to cope with an unexpected and devastating loss, there are many families who will also learn that death was the consequence of an inattentive or negligent driver, and could very likely have been avoided altogether if the other driver had been paying attention, or following the rules of the road.
When victims are called home under such awful circumstances, the families they leave behind are frequently made to deal with tens of thousands of dollars in hospital bills, and funeral and burial expenses. Under certain circumstances, surviving relations are left in utter financial ruin because they have lost the breadwinner of their household. We realize that there isn’t anything that can be said or done that will negate the tragedy your family has endured, but the Utah accident attorneys at Siegfried & Jensen are committed to helping families see that justice and financial remuneration are given to those who have suffered.
