St. George, UT – Impaired Driver Causes Injuries To Two Officers Near S. 200 East In IvinsUtah Legal News
St. George, UT (February 14, 2019) – Just after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police from the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department were contacted about a man who was using stolen gas cards to on several vehicles. Police Officers located the driver, Crosby Camp, 36, from Ivins, a short distance from the Lightfoot’s Fuel Center & Convenience Store gas pump in a white Honda.
Upon locating the driver outside of his vehicle, two officers approached the driver who was acting suspiciously. The driver got into his vehicle when he noticed police. The two officers approached the car and leaned in to notify Camp that he was under arrest. The driver floored his vehicle, causing the two officers to be thrown to the ground. One officer sustained a shoulder injury in the incident. The second officer sustained an injury to his leg.
Mr. Camp was eventually apprehended by police after a short pursuit and is being charged with two second-degree felony counts for assault against an officer with weapon or force and a third-degree felony count for failing to stop at an officer’s command. A failed sobriety test confirmed Camp was under the influence at the time of his arrest.
