St. George, UT – U-Turn Fail Ends in T-Bone Collision on SR 18

St. George, UT (April 06, 2019) – A two-vehicle accident took place on Saturday, April 6th, affecting the southbound lanes of State Route 18. The crash is reported to have occurred at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Officers from the St. George Police department along with first responders reported to the scene of an accident that involved a Ford Fusion and a Honda Pilot colliding in the center-most southbound lanes of State Route 18. The incident occurred near mile marker 7, just south of Ledges.

Initial reports from the St. George Police indicate that the Ford was stopped on the northbound side of the road, waiting to make a U-turn. When the driver finally attempted the turn, she was struck by the Honda as it traveled down SR 18 in the opposite direction. The impact caught the Ford on its driver’s side, sending the car spinning across the southbound side of the road where it finally came to a stop a remained there partially obstructing traffic. The occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Ford, whose identity has not yet been released, received medical transport to Dixie Regional Medical Center for the treatment of injuries that she sustained during the accident. Her injuries were assessed as being non-life threatening. The family that was in the Honda sustained various minor injuries and sought medical attention on their own.

Both of the cars involved were damaged extensively and had to be towed out of the roadway. St. George Police have stated that the driver of the Ford will be receiving a citation for making an improper U-Turn.

We would like to wish everyone who was injured in this accident a full and speedy recovery. We are so glad that everyone was wearing their seatbelts.

Car Accidents in St. George

Every year, Utah’s roadways play host to more than 52,000 vehicle accidents, and those accidents usher in more than 22,000 injuries and 240 deaths. Vehicle collisions that occur on the highway usually end up producing more catastrophic injuries and more fatalities than accidents that happen on city streets. This is mostly because of the significantly larger volume of cars that are present on the highway. They also travel at higher speeds and tend to be a lot closer to one another.

When someone is injured in a highway accident as the result of the carelessness of another driver, they need to contact an experienced Utah personal injury attorney who will be able to explain all of their legal options and help them file a claim. The victims who are injured in these kinds of accidents could be able to receive financial compensation for damages. Monetary losses stemming from the accident like medical bills, lost income from being out of work, physical therapy, and pain and suffering might all be recoverable losses.
