St. George, UT – UPDATE: DUI Rollover Resulted In Injuries On SR-59Utah Legal News
St. George, UT (February 22, 2019) – Utah Highway Patrol reported to a rollover accident 6:00 p.m. Wednesday along State Route 59, near Hurricane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a red 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup truck turned over and blocking the westbound lane and partially blocking the eastbound lane of the highway.
A Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy discovered the 50-year-old driver shortly after the accident occurred and rendered aid to the injured driver until the Utah Highway Patrol troopers could get to the scene.
An investigation of the incident found that the driver of the Toyota was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The driver lost control of his vehicle and veered to the left toward oncoming traffic before rolling the vehicle several times.
The driver was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He was cited for having an open container of alcohol and DUI. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the driver injured in this crash, who, despite his openly reckless behavior, we hope will receive a full recovery.
