Stansbury Park, UT – 37-Year-Old Woman Killed After Accident Involving Large Boulder

Stansbury Park, UT (March 3, 2019) – A 37-year-old woman was killed yesterday after an accident where a boulder struck her while she was hiking on Stansbury Island.

Around 3:00 p.m., the unidentified woman had been hiking down a trail standing on a boulder when it suddenly moved out of place and trapped her. She fell forward, which is when the boulder rolled on top of her.

The woman from Salt Lake City was hiking with her husband and friend at the time. There were slick conditions in the area, which made for slippery areas where falls could happen in the blink of an eye.

Police say that they have never seen an accident like this in that particular area. Officials recovered the woman’s body last night and are working on releasing her name.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.  Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
