Taylorsville, UT – Woman Hit by Garbage Truck on Redwood RoadUtah Legal News
Taylorsville, UT (April 24, 2019) – A terrible accident took place on Wednesday, April 24 that affected the northbound lanes of Redwood Road. Initial reports state that the accident occurred at about 7:20 in the morning.
Officers from the Unified Police department and the Utah Highway Patrol along with other emergency responders reported to the scene of an accident that involved garbage truck striking a 50-year-old woman as she was attempting to cross at the intersection of Redwood Road at 4600 South.
Statements that were given seem to indicate that the garbage truck was heading east from 4601 South and started to initiate a lefthand turn to follow its route northbound onto Redwood Road. The woman was already in the marked crosswalk that runs through the intersection when the truck ran into her. At this time it is not clear as to which direction the victim was heading.
The victim received emergency medical transport to a nearby trauma unit where she had to undergo immediate surgery. The driver of the garbage truck stopped and remained at the scene to help and has so far cooperated with the authorities. He said he did not see the woman in the intersection when he initiated his turn.
A Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
We wish the woman who was injured in this unfortunate accident a full and quick recovery.
