Toquerville, UT – Woman Killed, 4 Injured In Accident On UT-17

Toquerville, UT (July 24, 2019) – A 31-year-old woman was reportedly killed in a car crash Sunday evening on July 21st. The Utah Highway Patrol claims that a pickup truck carrying five people was traveling on UT-17 when the driver failed to navigate the turn that led into the city of Toquerville.

At around 9:00 p.m., the vehicle struck a concrete barrier before overcorrecting, causing it to strike the barrier again and roll over many times. A 31-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were ejected in the collision. The Arizona woman was taken to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The 11-year-old was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City by helicopter and is expected to survive.

The remaining occupants were 10, 13, and 17 respectively, and all were injured but are in stable condition. The 17-year-old, who had a learners permit, was driving the car at the time of the accident.

It is believed that speed was a factor in the crash.

An investigation is underway concerning the cause of the accident.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.  Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
