Utah County, UT (February 23, 2019) – A pedestrian accident took place on Thursday evening, around 6:25 p.m., that led to critical injuries in one party. The Utah Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident to help injured parties.

According to police, the accident took place around the area of 300 West on State Route 147. The pedestrian has not yet been identified, but police say that she was a woman in her 50s.

Police say that the woman was taking out her trash at the time when a westbound vehicle traveling around 50 mph struck her. Police say that lighting in the area was scarce at the time and the woman who was struck might have had impaired vision.

The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries. Both directions of Route 147 were closed following the crash.
