Vernal, UT – 2 Seriously Injured In Plane Crash At Vernal Regional Airport

Vernal, UT (July 31, 2019) – Two people have been reported as severely injured in an accident when their plane stalled after takeoff and crashed. The incident took place on Monday morning, July 29th, at the Vernal Regional Airport.

The two injured parties were identified as a 27-year-old flight instructor and an 18-year-old woman who were in a Cessna 162 Skycatcher.

Reports from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office indicate that the instructor was demonstrating a take-off technique when the plane stalled while 100 feet in the air. The instructor tried to power the plane back on but was unsuccessful. The plane crashed onto the shoulder of the runway and skidded across it, coming to a stop on the grass.

Both victims were transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to a medical facility in Salt Lake City.

The National Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
