Vernal, UT (March 10, 2019) – On Friday evening, March 8th, a woman lost her life in a fatal apartment fire that took place at 355 East 100 North around 10:00 p.m. that night.

Tenants called firefighters to tell them that they smelled ammonia and smoke coming from the apartment next door. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene, where they observed smoke coming out of a window of apartment #4. When they got to the top of the unit, they said that the smoke was quite heavy.

Neighbors told firefighters that a person was possibly inside the unit. Crews were able to locate a 35-year-old woman. She had suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Officials have not yet identified the woman. Nobody else was injured in the fire but it remains under investigation at this time.
