Wasatch County, UT (March 7, 2019) – New details have emerged regarding the fatal accident near Strawberry Reservoir. On Wednesday afternoon, Utah Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 40. The accident, which occurred around 3:15 p.m., involved a Ford Expedition and a snow plow.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the Ford Expedition was traveling east down the highway when the driver of the vehicle lost control and slid into the westbound lanes due to snowy and icy road conditions.
The vehicle slid into a snow plow, which was traveling in the westbound lanes. The driver of the Expedition and one passenger were killed on impact. The driver of the plow and two other passengers in the Expedition were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.
Further investigation of the incident found that the tires on the Expedition were largely bald and in an unsafe condition for driving. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the driver who was killed. We hope those injured in this accident can make fast and full recoveries from their injuries.
