Washington County, UT – Unlicensed Teen Driver Seriously Injured In Crash On I-15

Washingston County, UT (July 28, 2018) – Utah Highway Patrol has reported that a teenager was critically injured in a collision on Interstate 15 in Southern Utah. The incident, which took place on Thursday, July 25th, at around 4:40 a.m., resulted in the boy being taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center for immediate medical treatment.

UHP initially reported the crash at around 7:20 a.m. The incident took place on at the 98 marker on I-15 SB.

The teenage driver and his passenger, a 24-year-old man, were traveling in a Nissan Rogue on I-15 when the vehicle left the roadway. The car hit an embankment and begin rolling after striking a freeway fence.

The driver was unrestrained at the time of the crash and ejected from the vehicle, sustaining critical injuries. The passenger was restrained and sustained moderate injuries. 

Both injured parties were taken to Valley View Medical Center before the driver was flown to St. George. 

The crash is currently under investigation.
