Sandy, UT (February 11, 2019) – An auto-pedestrian accident at the intersection of 3000 West on State Route 147 near the 6400 block South near Benjamin left one woman in critical condition.
Around 6:25 p.m., a woman was crossing the road around the area of 3000 West on State Route 147 when a driver struck her. The pedestrian, who is in her 50s, was believed to be putting out her trash can at the time of the incident.
Police do not believe alcohol or distractions were the cause of the accident. Instead, they believe the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing in an area that was poorly lit, impaired the vision of the driver.
The vehicle was traveling at 50 MPH at the time of the impact. The pedestrian is in extremely critical condition. This accident is still being investigated at this time.
